लंदन वार्ता: नई विश्व व्यवस्था لندن وارتا: نیا عالمی نظام- TCA Raghavan, former Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan, has warned “the view in India is that we are not going to be restrained by the fear of escalation in our dealings with Pakistan, stressing the need for credible deterrence until Islamabad ends its support for major terrorist attacks.”

TCA Raghavan was speaking on the Cineink podcast London Vārta: New World Order in conversation with Pervaiz Alam.

In an exclusive conversation marking the first anniversary of the May 2025 India-Pakistan conflict — which India termed Operation Sindoor and Pakistan called Operation Bunyan-e-Marsoos — the veteran diplomat discussed the sharply altered dynamics between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

Raghavan’s remarks come amid growing concerns over the trajectory of India-Pakistan relations. In her 4 May 2026 article in Foreign Affairs, Elizabeth Threlkeld, Senior Fellow and Director of the South Asia Programme at the Stimson Center, argued that the next India-Pakistan crisis is likely to be far more intense, destructive, and difficult for the United States to contain than previous ones, owing to the lessons both sides drew from last year’s conflict.

Mr Raghavan said: “It is crucial that strategic communication is maintained between the two countries. Thresholds are being lowered everywhere. Take Pakistan’s actions against Afghanistan — they are very similar to the India-Pakistan situation where India acted against Pakistan. This is both a serious drawback and a positive sign, as it could trigger some introspection in Pakistan.”

In this 10-episode video/audio podcast series, London Vārta: New World Order, produced in London by Achala Sharma and Pervaiz Alam for Hindi/Urdu-speaking global audiences, we delve into the seismic shifts reshaping global politics in 2025–2026. From the latest developments in the Middle East to the fiery street agitations unsettling regimes and emerging new alliances in South Asia, and the resurgence of far-right nationalism in Europe, the London Vārta: New World Order series unravels how populist unrest is redefining global power dynamics.
