One of Hindi’s best known novelists and writers, Mridula Garg (born 25 October 1938) records her favourite story ‘Sitam Ke Funkaar’ in her voice, exclusively for Cine Ink and Radio Manzil.
मृदुला गर्ग हिंदी कथा साहित्य जगत् में अपनी पैनी नज़र और साहसी क़लम के लिए प्रसिद्ध हैं। समय, समाज और राजनीति के दोग़लेपन पर कटाक्ष करने में उनकी धारदार लेखनी कभी चूकी नहीं। और ना ही विवादों का मुक़ाबला करने से वे कभी घबराईं। यहाँ तक कि १९७९ में प्रकाशित उनके उपन्यास चित्तकोबरा पर जब अश्लीलता का आरोप लगा और उनकी गिरफ़्तारी का वॉरंट निकला तो समकालीन लेखक समुदाय की उदासीनता देख, मृदुला गर्ग निराश तो हुईं लेकिन हताश नहीं।
चित्तकोबरा, कठगुलाब, अनित्य और मिलजुल मन जैसे उपन्यासों समेत मृदुला गर्ग की लगभग तीस पुस्तकें प्रकाशित हो चुकी हैं। इनमें कई कहानी संग्रह, नाटक और निबंध शामिल हैं।
सिनेइंक रेडियो मंज़िल के श्रोताओं के लिए मृदुला गर्ग ने अपनी एक कहानी अपनी आवाज़ में रिकॉर्ड की है। कहानी का शीर्षक है, सितम के फ़नकार। यह कहानी न्यूयॉर्क में बसे एक भारतीय प्रवासी के घर की एक शाम का चित्र है। लेकिन कहानी मात्र प्रवासी जीवन की चितकबरी जीवन शैली और भावनात्मक निस्संगता को ही चित्रित नहीं करती, बल्कि उनका मूल्याँकन करने वाले को अपने भीतर झाँकने पर भी मजबूर करती है।

Mridula Garg, based in Delhi, won Sahitya Academy Award for her Hindi Hindi Miljul Mann. She has published more than 30 books of her novels, short stories, plays and collections of essays.
She has translated and written in English as well. The work includes such as Chittacobra (Novel, translated from her Hindi, Chittacobra, 1999), A Touch of Sun (Novel, translated from Hindi, Uske Hisse Ki Dhoop, 1978), Country of Goodbyes (Novel, translated from Hindi, Kathgulab, 2003), Daffodils On Fire (Short Stories, 1990), Anitya Halfway to Nowhere (Novel, translated from Hindi, Anitya, 2010), and The Last Email (Novel originally in English, 2017).
